SUN Bucks is a new state program to help families buy groceries for their school-aged children during the summer; each eligible child will receive $120 on an EBT card.

Your child is eligible for SUN Bucks automatically if you already participate in SNAP, FDIPR, TANF or other programs directly certified by the Department of Social and Health Services, or if your household income meets the requirements for free or reduced-price school meals.

Some families will need to apply for the summer EBT program for the first time this summer and will need to have income eligibility established by the end of the school year.

  • If your child attends a Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) school, you will need to fill out the Family Income Survey to determine eligibility. District CEP schools are: Alderwood, Birchwood, Carl Cozier, Cordata, Happy Valley, Northern Heights, Roosevelt and Sunnyland elementary schools, Fairhaven, Shuksan and Whatcom middle schools; and Options and Squalicum high schools.
  • If your child attends a non-CEP school, you will need to complete the Free and Reduced Price Meals application. The non-CEP schools are: Columbia, Geneva, Lowell, Parkview, Silver Beach and Wade King elementary schools: Kulshan Middle School; 新澳门六合彩 and Sehome high schools.
  • If you have children at both CEP and non-CEP schools, please complete the federal Free and Reduced Price Meals Application and list all children at both types of schools.

New dates and calendars for 2024-25 and 2025-26 school years /news/new-dates-and-calendars-for-2024-25-and-2025-26-school-years/ Wed, 08 May 2024 22:38:24 +0000 /?post_type=news&p=309423 A Message from the Department of Communications and Community Relations

We have updated and posted new calendars for the 2024-25 and 2025-26 school years.

Please take note of scheduled holidays/breaks, early dismissal days and staff learning days. We want to draw your attention to one aspect of the 2024-25 calendar. We have eliminated the typical day between semesters in 2024-25 due to the calendar placement of the January holidays next year. This decision was made after extensive vetting and processing with our calendar committee, labor leaders and high school leadership teams.

For the 2024-25 school year, the first day of school for grades 1-12 is Thursday, August 29. The first day of school for preschool, Promise K and kindergarten is Tuesday, September 3. The last day of the first semester is Jan. 28, 2025 and the first day of the second semester is Jan. 29, 2025.

We work hard to establish our school year calendars as early as possible and try to create a calendar that best meets the needs for all grade levels and families.

Please remember that inclement weather and other circumstances could require calendar adjustments, especially with snow days, and that the last day of the school year is subject to change.

新澳门六合彩 Public Schools is hosting an emergency resiliency event 6 to 7 p.m. Monday, May 13 at the new District Office, located at 1985 Barkley Blvd.

The purpose of the meeting is to share how the district and our local partners prepare for an emergency. Emergency preparedness is a broad term and has multiple definitions. For the purpose of this event, we will share information about our high school safety teams, reunification process in case of an emergency and how we offer our facilities during times of need, e.g., heat waves/cooling shelters, etc.

Partners attending the event include the City of 新澳门六合彩 and local law enforcement, fire, emergency management and search and rescue agencies.

The open house style event is from 6 to 7 p.m. with visitors encouraged to stop by partner booths in the District Office and in the parking lot. There will be a brief program from 6:15 to 6:35 p.m. inside.

BPS recently received a $100,000 grant from the Department of Commerce that funds feasibility studies on four schools (Cordata, Geneva, Shuksan and Squalicum) to determine solar and storage capacity and a community event for outreach and engagement. This event is supported with funding from Washington鈥檚 Climate Commitment Act. The CCA supports Washington鈥檚 climate action efforts by putting cap-and-invest dollars to work reducing climate pollution, creating jobs and improving public health. Information about the CCA is available at

We are grateful to Commerce for their support and look forward to seeing you on May 13!
